This historic estate produces dry and sweet wines made of Demeter grapes from 7 hectares of biodynamic vineyard of 15-70 year old vines, 100% Chenin Blanc. Of those, 5.5 hectares are Quarts de Chaume Appellation, the only Grand Cru in the Loire Valley. Suronde is located in the heart of the Quarts de Chaume appellation, at Les Quarts precisely.\nThe estate has been acquired in 2016 by \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.carrementkathleen.be\/\"\u003eKathleen Van den Berghe\u003c\/a\u003e and Sigurd Mareels, the Belgian owners of \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.chateaudeminiere.com\/\"\u003eChâteau de Minière.\u003c\/a\u003e\nChâteau de Suronde produces white wines from Chenin Blanc that can be sweet, semi-sweet and dry.\nSuronde produces both the iconic sweet Quarts de Chaume wines. But also the Coteaux du Layon wine, with lower sugar concentration than the Quarts de Chaume wines. And then there is the range of dry white wine, with a range of minerality versus fruitiness.\nThe sweet Loire wines are made of Chenin Blanc and have a remarkable acidity to balance the natural sweetness, resulting in very balanced wines that pair wonderfully well with a wide range of food, and allowing the wines to age for several decades.\nBoth Château de Minière and Château de Suronde are magical estates in the middle of each vineyard, surrounded by nature and shaped by the Loire and the Layon rivers.
